PRESIDENT SALVA KIIR OF SOUTH SUDAN's HEALTH ISSUES

A look at the issue surrounding an unfortunate situation

It is no news the embarrassment the 71-year-old president of South Sudan has suffered due to wetting himself on live television while opening a new road project. Salva Kiir Mayardit was directly in front of the cameras as a damp patch appeared on his trousers, forming a small puddle on his foot and behind, while the national anthem played on Tuesday. A video shows trumpet fanfare and the celebrations during the opening of the new road. The president appears to look down at his legs before the camera pans away from him. The unfortunate thing however is the event was broadcasted live on television, meaning that nothing could be done to rectify the embarrassing situation, as the video had already gone out on live.

The footage showed him flanked by military officials and other dignitaries in the African country. The president is believed to suffer from a urinary tract infection, according to Sahara reporters. Kiir has been president of South Sudan since 2011 after the country voted to become independent from the north. The incident sparked mixed reactions online with some taking to Twitter to express support for the president, who is still carrying out public duties, and others wondering why he still has to be president when he’s having extreme health challenges like this. Former federal lawmaker of Nigeria, Shehu Sani has also given his opinion on reasons that might have led to the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir wetting himself. In his words “This may be a urinary sickness or an extreme act of patriotism; refusal to excuse himself while the national anthem was being played.”

Now looking at social media reactions to this,

We have

A Mtz Patrick said: 'He's 71 years old, that's not uncommon at all for people of his age.'

Another user tweeted: 'Poor dude. Not his fault.'

Angel said: 'That's awful', while Arvydas said 'Probably very old and has health issues.'

Interestingly most fingers are pointing towards critical health issues, and for one this critical, that’s a cue that he is quite advanced age-wise, and it’s probably time to hand over the baton in order to focus on health, as at this stage there’d be a health decline, and being medically unfit and ruling a nation does not quite work. And we’ve seen that proven in our previous report, even though Paul Biya was not commissioning any road or any new project, and his case is in the extreme. Now this is just a rundown of the incident that happened a few days back,
