THE AKWAYA MASSACRE AND THE CONTINUATION OF THE GENOCIDE

More than 35 people, including women and children, were massacred, some seriously injured and numerous houses razed on Saturday 25th of June and Sunday 26th of June 2022 in the villages of Bakinjaw, Marvas, Ballin and neighbouring Communities of the Akwaya Local Government Area in Manyu County. Among the casualties are citizens of Nigeria resident in those communities which border Nigeria.

Ambazonia is mourning! The Interim Government, on behalf of all Ambazonians, extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the entire people of Akwaya Local Government Area. We wish those injured a speedy recovery. The entire government is mobilised as we follow diligently the sad events in Akwaya caused by the enemy.

Unsubstantiated reports all over social media propagated by apologists to the genocidal regime of Yaounde are quick to blame these horrendous atrocity crimes on unresolved land disputes by two ethnic communities in that locality. This is far from the truth.

These atrocious acts characterized by killings and beheading of peaceful Ambazonians are commonplace shock-and-awe tactics used by the genocidal regime of French Cameroon (La Republique du Cameroun - LRC) as they continue their scorched-earth policy, as part of an elaborate extermination plan of the people of former British Southern Cameroons (Ambazonia).

Preliminary investigations by Akwaya Local Government officials involving eyewitness accounts indicate that a notorious French Cameroon ‘militia’ ( Constituted of armed LRC soldiers in mufti) facilitated by LRC ruling party CPDM local parliamentarian from Akwaya, stormed those localities during a funeral ceremony, rampantly shooting at defenceless civilians, accusing them of harbouring Ambazonian Restoration Forces. Toddlers were shot at point-blank range and young and 2 men were decapitated to instil shock and awe in the local population of those localities. The havoc continued with the rampant burning of houses and properties.

It should be recalled that since the onset of the war declared on Ambazonia by Dictator Biya on the 27th of November 2017, more than 45.000 Ambazonians have been killed with about 500 villages/ settlements burned down by his genocidal thugs. (For more on atrocities, go to www.ambazoniagenocidelibrary.com).

It is interesting to note that the Yaoundé regime which is represented on the ground by the colonial District Officer and probably thousands of BIRS, Gendarmes and other officials deployed there purportedly to ensure security, has been silent ever since. Their silence can not have any other explanation than conspiracy and guilt, to say the least.

A communique hurriedly put out by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon - Rev Fonki Samuel Forba on the 27th of June 2022, attributing the cause of this barbaric massacre to a “land dispute” between two tribes and intentionally omitting the catalyst and perpetrators of this heinous crime - LRC, is misleading! The communique issued from his office in Buea hundreds of kilometres away, just a day after the incident is suspicious and unreliable especially because the Reverend Man does not give his sources of information and he arrived at his conclusions.

A UN-led fact-finding mission aimed at investigating all atrocity crimes perpetrated in the territory of former British Cameroons (Ambazonia) since the beginning of this genocide in 2017, is the only way of authoritatively establishing indisputable facts about those responsible for this carnage. This will serve as a platform for justice and bring Dictator Biya’s genocidal regime and those who facilitate them to book.
