THE ARREST OF AMBAZONIAN ACTIVISTS IN US COULD BE A BLESSING IN DISGUISE
Every dark cloud has a silver lining it is said. News went viral both on social media and the mainstream media about the arrest and detention of some three Southern Cameroonians – Ambazonians activists. The US Justice Department said Claude Chi, 40, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Francis Chenyi, 49, of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Lah Nestor Langmi, 46, of Buffalo, New York, were arrested Monday on charges of conspiracy to provide material support to support kidnappings and use weapons of mass destruction in a foreign country.
The US Justice department claims that the three men, US citizens of Cameroon origin, are accused of raising $350,000 for arms and bomb-making materials for the separatist Ambazonian Restoration Forces operating in Cameroon’s English-speaking northwest region.
The US Justice department adds that these funds also supported kidnappings by the separatists, including of Tumi and Sehm Mbinglo, a traditional chief in the troubled region
Following these allegations from the US Justice department, the president of the interim government of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia, Dr Samuel Ikome Sako and his entire cabinet have been leaving no stone unturned in the search for justice for the detained and to clear the air about the plight of the suffering people of Ambazonia who have been bruised by LRC but not crushed for over 60 years of annexation, assimilation, subjugation, annihilation of a peace loving and justice seeking Ambazonian people in a troubled and forceful living together without any union treaty. A people only seeking their fundamental rights.
For one week and counting the steadfast, resilient, results-oriented, focused and god-fearing leader, Dr Sako and his IG have made more than one outings through videos and audios on ABC Amba TV Undaunted News to seek for justice and clear the air about the Ambazonian genuine quest for freedom. These outings culminated in a heavily attended live interactive special Town Hall meeting Saturday December 3, 2022 during which exchanges were direct and frank.
The IG legal team made up of three no nonsense, fire-eating legal luminaries; Barrister Gana, Barrister Fru Nsoh and Barrister Mbehesa called on Ambazonians to remain calm as they described the matter as a golden opportunity for Ambazonians to make case plainly to a world that has been adamant ever since the colonial LRC dictator Paul Biya, the occupier declared war on the peace loving and justice seeking Ambazonians over 5 years and counting, a war that has killed over 50.000 innocent people, burnt down about 600 villages and homes, by a cruel occupier LRC military that raped, maimed, torture, loot and sent more than a million into exile as refugees and hundreds of thousands either missing and in jails across Ambazonia and LRC. They cited a few cases like Ngarbuh where over 30 were murdered at night including pregnant women, and children by the colonial LRc military, the Santa – Pinyin massacre of over 30 youths, Kwakwa, Muyuka, Bali, Batibo, women raped and killed, old Mami Api roasted by fire, babies shot dead in Muyuka, Buea, Bamenda etc
The legal team assured Ambazonians that America is a law abiding country and will help tell the world whether following these massacres and all atrocities and human rights violations by a colonial LRC cruel genocidal regime, Ambazonians don’t have a right to self defence. They made it abundantly clear that self defence is enacted in the US law and that is exactly what Ambazonians are engaged in after they were attacked and that as the matter unfolds when they will know the plaintiffs and how much they took as ransom through kidnappings and who took what? They will now know exactly how to spit fire in the eyes of LRC.
Barrister Gana who had had the opportunity to meet with the attorney handling the matter told Ambazonians that the attorney even questioned the FBI that at the time of the arrest did they know that the concerned Ambazonians had a right to self defence and that the three were not supposed to be arrested and detained without their lawyers. One of them has already been freed and Barrister Gana equally disclosed that since the matter is in the US Federal court of Justice, the department will borne the investigation charges both in the US and up to Cameroon. He encouraged Ambazonians to mobilise funds and beef up the legal team for the prosecution of the matter which will be coming up tentatively in March 2023. As concerns the detained, Barrister Gana assured Ambazonians that the case was not going to tarnish their stay in the US and files since their action is according to the; law – self defence recognized and enacted in the US law. They equally encouraged other fellow Ambzonians not to fear supporting the struggle as such support falls within the ambit of US laws which cover everybody
In the words of Dr Samuel Ikome Sako “Ambazonians have been touched at the marrow and it is high time for the international community that has been complacent about the genocide in Ambazonia to learn a lesson whether black blood doesn’t matter”. He cited the Russian invasion of Ukraine which is just yesterday and how the entire world including the UN have intervened promptly. He lamented that Ambazonians are massacred in their numbers for over 5 years and the world has been tacitly watching because black blood doesn’t matter. Dr Sako wondered aloud against world hypocrisy because in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainians did not fold their arms, the Ukrainians took arms and retaliated in self defence to preserve their territory, same thing when LRC invaded the Southern Cameroons – Ambazonia, Ambazonians who initially marched with peace plants, had to take up dane-guns, knives, machetes, rubber guns with rubber shoes in retaliation because they were pushed to the wall. The President Of The Federal Republic of Ambazonia made it abundantly clear to the entire world that the USA fought a seven year war to liberate itself from the United kingdom that was self defence. Today the US is helping to supply arms in support of Israel fighting with its neighbours and others, still in line with self defence. So Ambazonians are not less human to see themselves attacked and massacred including children and old women, homes razed, women raped, property looted and they fold their arms. Expatiated Dr Sako and called on every Ambazonian of good will to draft (the special judiciary draft) now more than ever before for Ambazonia to fight this legal battle which will be an opportunity to free homeland from over 60 years in servitude, 60 years of enslavement. He assured Ambazonians that this legal battle is God ordained to help bring a world and an international community that has been shying away from resolving the Ambazonian equation on board willy-nilly and face the bull by the horns as much will be exposed that will pave our way to freedom earlier than later.
As the legal team is expected to be beefed up, some callers during this Town Hall Meeting expressed the desire that the mainstream media at home and abroad including the Washington Post be mobilized for a wider coverage as matters unfold.
