THE CONTRADICTIONS OF A TYRANT, DICTATOR PAUL BIYA

LRC had won number one world corruption trophy twice.

Paul Biya who had once denied that there was corruption in his country is tasking those accusing his people of corruption to get ready and that anti graft crackdown will intensify.  The tyrant forgot that as soon as he entered office he ushered in corruption but the 1990s when SDF parliamentarians saw a bill for felling down a single tree by a colonial government minister of P& T, Monchipou at FCFA 10 million, they raised an alarm, the dictator still asked for proofs and allowed his ministers et al to pilfer and empty state coffers.

Today that state coffers are really empty, the tyrant promises to crackdown on corruption, “I also want to reiterate that those who are illicitly amassing wealth by plundering the State, at whatever level, will be brought to book,” he said. What a contradiction? The dictator added that “Last year, I talked about the need to strengthen governance in the management of public affairs and to control government spending. Rest assured that this concern is constant and unwavering,”  In November, the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission said about 44 billion xaf (about 72 million U.S. dollars) was lost to corruption in 2021.

LRC has arrested several top-ranking government officials since Biya launched an anti-graft campaign called Operation Epervier (Sparrowhawk) in 2004. In fact his entire government with a prime minister is in prison, including directors etc because of laissez-faire, unaccountability and lack of transparency.
